First off, I want to thank everyone for their feedback on my last few posts. Seems like the review from my perspective on the Golden Years of Hip Hop was well received. I am working on another series of reviews possibly. Not sure what it should be. So far what I have narrowed it down to is a complete, 100% review of the entire Star Wars saga, now that we know how it finally ends after 40+ years. Or I choose a movie from the 80’s and just dive deep into the logic and story of it. Or maybe I should do both. All I know is that it is going to be a lot of writing and with this quarantine still going strong, I most definitely have the time to write. In fact, some good news, and that is one of the reasons why I haven’t blogged in a few days is because I have finally finished all the notes and outlines that I needed for my book. I still need a strong story climax event, maybe at least 2 of those, and I am also working on the conclusion, but other than that I have everything else ready to go. I have notes on all the characters, locations, names and relationships with each other, timeline, and conflicts. Since I am pulling this from my own experiences, I have changed the names to protect the innocent. That sounds right, right? I actually wrote the introduction of the book as well. A sort of “set the stage” kind of thing. It ends with not really finishing. My hope is that it leaves enough information to make the reader want to keep reading. The message here is that I am saying “if you keep reading, I will tell you more and explain how and why we got here.” I have been mulling over the first chapter, and when to begin. I am thinking of starting it like right in the middle of the peak of the main characters popularity as as DJ. And then jumping back to explain things, almost like a flashback but more focused to explain the story. My fear is that there will be too many flashbacks and it might confuse the reader. But without the explaining, it will be really difficult to tell the story and make sense of the decisions the characters make since those decisions are based on things that happened to them in the past. See the dilemma there? I need some time to figure this out. In the meantime I will keep writing here in this blog to keep up the practice. So here are my choices for this blog on what to write on next.
Since my last series was focused on music, for this next series I want to focus on film. Which films? I don’t want to pick my favorite, but I want to dive into a film and see if I can make my readers think twice about what they thought they knew. This is why I want to write about Star Wars separately. On that topic I want to talk about some of the plot holes and the journey of Jedi. If I had to pick a movie, that is older, and my point of view of this particular film is a bit different than what most people see or know, then that is what I should blog about and explain. A few come to mind right away but I think I know what I will do. Yes. This is good. It makes me excited to get started. Which film am I choosing?
